ANGEL VERSUS LIZA AS DARNA: Because of an injury on her spine due to active training,

Angel Locsin has backed out of the titular role as Darna in a movie being prepared for her by Star Cinema.

The actress admitted the injury has placed her in a dilemma that cannot allow her to engage in strenuous physical activities so required by the role. “Darna,” the movie, is expected to boost further Angel’s stock as an actress who has not been quite visible of late. She has a forthcoming film, “All Of My Life,” with Vilma Santos and Xian Lim, however.

On the other hand, Angel’s injury can further encourage followers of Liza Soberano to lobby on her behalf. Social media is bursting with posts that aim to fetch for the “Everyday I Love You” young actress the plum role. Pictures of Liza in Darna costume are all over the place.

Come to think of it, Liza fits the part. She has the face and figure of a modernday Darna. She can provide a new, refreshing image to the superhero in this age of high technology. Imagine Darna tinkering with her tablet, mobile phone, posting pictures on Instagram, etc.

Angel once played Darna in a successful, long-running TV series on GMA-7.

ALJUR A CHANGED PERSON: They say Aljur Abrenica is now a changed person.

After almost two years of a hopeless battle with his home network, GMA-7, the young actor is finally back with a new drama series on the same channel. Without having to explain much, Aljur said it felt good to be working on a series again after a long hiatus.

Aljur plays one of two leading men to Janine Gutierrez on “Dangwa,” a drama series laced with a bit of fantasy which premiered Oct. 26.

Janine’s character is kind of enchanted. She’s like your modern Cupid who matches strangers to become lovers in the end.

As for Aljur, it is obvious that he wants the romance back with his old network. He has been dutifully accepting guest roles in a few drama programs in the absence of a regular series.

The fact that GMA-7 accepted him with open arms and assigned him roles again is proof that, hopefully, all’s well that ends well.

Meanwhile, the case filed by Aljur against GMA Artist Center (GMAAC) is still pending. The young actor is contracted to GMA until 2017. He made it clear that he wanted out of GMAAC, not GMA-7 itself.

Similarly, the multi-million case filed by the network against its prodigal son is still for the courts to decide. LANI M. IN LAS CASAS: US-based

WALANG IWANAN: ABS-CBN has a new teleserye called “Walang Iwanan,” featuring fresh child actors quick to tap their tear ducts.

Other popular shows that carried the word
