Aguirre vows probe on drugs inside Bilibid
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II said yesterday that he will form within the week an investigative body that will look into the involvement of past and current officials of the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) in the proliferation of illegal drugs within the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City.
“This week we are going to,” Aguirre told reporters when asked if the DOJ has begun its probe.
The secretary said that the timeline of the DOJ investigation will start from “the past administration, in the past six years.”
Aguirre said that probe body will look into “’yung talagang nangyari noong mga nakaraang administration, why did the illegal drugs proliferated in BuCor kasali sa investigation (what actually happened in the past administration, why did illegal drugs proliferate in BuCor).”
On the other hand, Aguirre evaded answering if former Justice Secretary and now Senator Leila de Lima will be included in the investigation.
