Watanabe foils Alberto

Two-time champion Dashi Watanabe of Kawasaki spoiled the three-peat bid of TJ Alberto of Team Ducati Philippines in the rain-hit third leg of the 2016 Pirelli Superbikes Series held recently at the Batangas Racing Circuit.

Heavy downpour in the afternoon forced officials to call off the final race of the event under the aegis of the 2016 ENEOS Philippine Motorsports Championship season.

The event is sanctioned by the Superbikes Racing Association (SBRA) with Pirelli and ENEOS as major sponsors.

Watanabe completed the 10-lap race in 19:54.944 or 10.913 seconds ahead of runner-up TJ Alberto who also clinched the Superbikes Intermediate plum over younger brother Troy Alberto.
