- By EMMIE V. ABADILLA

After a year of operating in the Philippines, Ethiopian Airlines the other night launched its Dreamliner Boeing 787 (B787) – the latest and most technologically advanced Boeing aircraft – for its Manila – Addis Ababa route.

Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s 70-yearold carrier and its largest as well, was the first to bring the Dreamliner B787 to the continent and second in the world to use the new generation Boeing aircraft.

In line with the celebration of its 70th Anniversary this year, the Ethiopian Airlines Dreamliner started servicing the Manila-Addis Ababa route this month (August 1, 2016).

Ethiopian Airlines entered into service in the Philippines in July, 2015 and now flies four times a week from Manila to Addis Ababa, the world’s third-highest capital city.

Addis Ababa is the diplomatic capital of Africa, having served as the headquarters of the Organization of African Unity (now African Union) since its inception in 1963 and is home to destinations such as Gondar, Lalibella and Axum.

The new generation Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 787 Dreamliner is one of the most-advanced aircraft in the airline’s existing fleet and it is 60% quieter compared to other aircraft of its kind.

It has one of the widest windows in the sky featuring smart glass autodimming technology which is adaptive to external light. It also features state-of-the-art air conditioning which provides better quality and removes ozone from outside air.

To celebrate the launch of its Dreamliner service to the Manila, Ethiopian Airlines is offering travel deals from Manila to Africa, America and Europe via Ethiopian Airlines 787 Dream Adventure Treat.

For a minimum US$787 for Economy Class and $1,787 for Business Class, passengers from Manila are given roundtrip travel opportunities to over 90 international destinations worldwide beginning from Addis Ababa to Cairo and Capetown in Africa; Paris, Rome, Madrid, London and Frankfurt in Europe; and Los Angeles, New York, Washington, Toronto and Sao Paulo in the Americas.
