Duterte vows to ‘do better’ and sustain major campaigns
By
PRESIDENT Duterte has vowed to “do better “in terms of performance and to likewise sustain his campaign against drugs, crime, and corruption.
No impeachment complaint or international court case can deter me, he vowed.
*** On the other hand, the President said his aggressive opponents and critics could “do their worst” against him but he will stay focused on carrying out his sworn duty despite the risk of losing his life, honor and the presidency.
I will be focused and true to my sworn duty, the Punisher added.
*** “I welcome both developments. They can do their worst, I can do better in my performance as a worker in government. Period,” the President said in reaction to the filing in Congress of an impeachment complaint and of a criminal case against him before the International Court of Justice.
They can do their worst, I can do better, DU30 says.
*** “I will not be intimidated and I shall not be stopped by just… What? International Criminal Court?Impeachment? If that is part of my destiny, it is my destiny to go,” he added. “No fear” for Digong,
*** “I will comply with my promises. The drive against corruption, the drive against criminality and drugs will resume, and it will continue, and it will be brutal if they do not understand the role of government. Suppression includes all,” he added.
To my promises! To my priorities! DU30 vowed anew.
*** Magdalo party-list Rep. Gary Alejano has alleged in his impeachment complaint filed before the House of Representatives that Duterte has committed high crimes, from involvement in extrajudicial killings to amassing unexplained wealth.
Unfazed and ready to be impeached or even rot in jail, DU30 said.
***
“Wala sa akin ‘yang impeachmentimpeachment. I go by the rules of destiny. What gave me the presidency was pure destiny if you consider all the things that happened along the way,” he said.
Destiny will rule my life, DU30 asserted. *** Meanwhile, the President’s supporters led by Speaker Pantaleo Alvarez also called for the impeachment of Vice President Leni Robredo for airing a video message before the United Nations criticizing DU30’s war on drugs and exposing the country to “dire economic circumstances.” A battle of impeachments looms.
*** “The negative image it portrays of the Philippines could have dire economic consequences. That is a clear betrayal of public trust,” Deputy Speaker Gwendolyn Garcia said.
Economic sanctions and freezing of export tax exemption loom, too.
*** Concerned lawmakers called for a stop to impeachment moves whether it be against DU30 or Robredo.
It will further polarize our already divided nation, they warned.
*** “Impeaching the top two leaders of the country — whether or not either succeeds — will get us nowhere and only make things worse,” said Quezon City Rep. Winston Castelo.
Why return to instability and reap the whirlwind again?
