Reward up for road rage video footage

- By MARS W. MOSQUEDA JR.

CEBU CITY – The family of road rage suspect David Lim Jr. is offering up to 1300,000 to anyone who can produce the complete video footage of the incident that led to Lim’s shooting of a 33-yearold nurse.

Lim’s lawyer, Orlando Salatandre Jr., announced the reward offer who claimed that the dashcam video of the incident that went viral was incomplete and did not show how his client was attacked first by the nurse, Ephraim Nuñal.

The video that went viral on social media made Lim appear to be the aggressor, Salatandre said in a press conference Wednesday.

“There was no intention to hurt the victim. But he kept on coming near David, so my client was forced to shot him in the legs to disable him,” Salatandre said.

The video released by the homicide section of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) showed Lim trying to punch Nuñal.

When Nuñal evaded the attack, Lim is seen getting back into his car and emerged carrying a gun.

Lim, nephew of businessman Peter Lim, then shot the Nuñal several times.

The nurse was shot in the left thigh and right ankle.

Salatandre said the video was spliced, or edited, to put Lim in a bad light.

“Present the full video...while my client was driving, two cars tailing him kept honking their horns, prompting my client to stop his car and confront the victim and his two companions. A brawl ensued,” Salatandre said.

He said Nuñal had “two companions bigger than the victim.” He said it was only because Lim felt provoked that he took the gun from his car.

While waiting for appropriate charges to be filed against him, Lim spent the night Tuesday in the CCPO stockade instead of in the air-conditioned room at the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7. However, critics continue to slam the police’s alleged special treatment on the suspect.

Lim was placed in the CCPO’s cell for female detainees and the occupants of the cell were transferred to another cell.

It was reportedly Presidential special assistant Bong Go who informed the police that Lim was going to surrender last Tuesday.
