Generika, Foton seek PSL semis

Games Today (The Arena, San Juan City) 5 p.m. – Generika-Ayala vs Petron 7 p.m. – Foton vs Sta. Lucia

Generika-Ayala and Foton hope to clinch the last remaining final round slot when they battle separate foes in the last day of preliminaries in the Belo Philippine Superliga (PSL) Invitational Conference today at the FilOil Flying V Center in San Juan.

While the Foton Tornadoes will have a lighter assignment in winless Sta. Lucia in their 7 p.m. showdown, the Generika Lifesavers will need a miracle to hurdle a giant in the Petron Lady Blazers in their 5 p.m. clash.

The Lady Blazers are the only unbeaten squad so far with a 4-0 card followed by Cignal with a 4-1 card in the six-team tournament.

If the Tornadoes prevail, they will join Petron and Cignal in the championship round along with a guest team from Japan.

But if ever both the Lifesavers and the Tornadoes drop their games, their ranking will be determined based on their accumulated points and won sets in the event backed Mikasa, Asics, Mueller and Senoh with TV5 as official broadcast partner.

Final round starts next week (March 30).

One thing going against the Lifesavers is that the Lady Blazers are coming of a 25-12, 25-10, 25-23 victory – thanks to the efforts of Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Mika Reyes and Aiza Maizo-Pontillas.
