Oriental Mindoro lauds, extends assistance to PNP-Mimaropa
CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro – The provincial government has lauded the anti-illegal drugs initiatives and operations of the Philippine National Police – Mimaropa and extended a R650,000 funding assistance to bolster its operational capabilities.
Oriental Mindoro Governor Alfonso V. Umali, Jr., in a simple ceremony, handed over a check worth R500,000 to Chief Superintendent Wilben M. Mayor, regional director of Police Regional Office – Mimaropa the other day at Camp Efigenio Navarro in Suqui, Calapan City.
The Mimaropa region covers the provinces of Oriental and Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, Romblon and Marinduque.
“The PNP here has an exemplary scorecard in dealing with illegal drugs which continue to be a major threat in peace and order like in other provinces. Any kind of support that we can give, we will give it to you,” Umali said.
Umali also handed out a R150,000 check to Senior Supt. Christopher C. Birung, provincial director of Oriental Mindoro Police Provincial Office (PPO) and two laptop computers in a separate turn-over ceremony which was witnessed by members of the Provincial Advisory Council (PAC), a body chaired by the governor with selected individuals from the church and business community as members.
The governor was also the guest of honor and speaker during the inauguration of an administrative building of the Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB) which was completed thru the funding support of the provincial government with the concurrence of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan headed by Vice Gov. Humerlito Dolor.
The building will house the administrative offices of the RPSB-4B which is now headed by Sr. Supt. Tom R. Frias.
