Police have busted an Indian-led kidnapfor-ransom group following the arrest of one of the leaders and three Filipino members in separate operations in Nueva Ecija.

Director General Ronald dela Rosa, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), said the arrest came after the group took the ransom payment from an Indian businessman amounting to 1600,000.

He identified the arrested suspects as Indian Gurmeet Singh, one of the two leaders of the group; Jerry Cabading, alias Tolox; Francisco Castro, alias Gorilla; and, Gregorio Peña, alias Junjun.

“The PNP AKG is now conducting pursuit operations against another leader of the group identified a Kikker Singh, who remains at-large,” said dela Rosa.

“This group is believed to be involved in eight (8) other kidnapping for ransom cases, mostly involving Indian victims, in Pampanga, Bataan, Nueva Ecija, and Metro Manila,” he added.

Senior Supt. Glenn Dumlao, director of the Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG), said they were able to track down the suspect after the ransom payoff and release of the group’s latest victim Handvinder Singh.

Dumlao said the victim was abducted in Barangay Sta. Barbara in Llanera town of Nueva Ecija on March 9. The group initially demanded 110 million but it was reduced to 1600,000.

“The victim was released on March 25 a day after the ransom payoff,” said Dumlao.

AKG operatives then hunted down the suspects which led to the arrest of the four in two separate operations in Lupao and Rizal towns of Nueva Ecija.

Seized from them were three .45 pistols and a hand grenade. The 1600,000 ransom was also recovered.
