JAVIER, Leyte — The mobile kitchen of President Duterte has reached Eastern Visayas and it has served almost 7,000 people, mostly children, from all walks of life in Leyte and Samar.

PDP-Laban 8 Regional President Marie Marjorie Jaramilla said the feeding program, launched more than three months ago in Leyte, has served almost 7,000 children, serving free porridge (lugaw with chicken) in various schools, barangays and resettlement centers in Leyte and Samar.

Javier town is the latest beneficiary, with around 700 pupils from the Javier Elementary School, receiving bowls of porridge, with people from all walks of life benefiting. The feeding program was led by Jaramilla, accompanied by PDP Laban National Youth Chair lawyer Kat Contacto, PDP Regional Officers Alan Tanjuakio, Fritz Salazar and Jaime Go and Javier PDP Laban coordinator Nado Go.

Jaramilla said it was also their way of celebrating the birthday of President Duterte, who was born in Barangay Laboon, Maasin City on March 28, 1945.

Duterte’s kitchen or the “Lugaw ng Bayan” provides nutritious food to children to help improve their nutritional status. Region 8 (Eastern Visayas) is first outside Manila to conduct Duterte’s kitchen, led by civic leader Joel R. Caminade, supporting the project.

Jaramilla said they will be launching the feeding program in the island province of Biliran next month.
