Earth Day Run slated
National Geographic, in partnership with Cherifer Premium and World Wildlife Fund for Nature, will be hosting the 8th Earth Day Run on April 23 at the Mall of Asia grounds in Pasay City.
The race aims to raise raise public awareness about environmental issues, as well as health and fitness.
Events on tap are 5K, 10K, 21K, and 42K.
New features for participants will be introduced in this year’s race. Organizers are including LED shoelaces on all race kits as a safety precaution for runners, while advocacy banners will be hung above the finish line.
The race will also run simultaneously in the cities of Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore, and Taichung – an initiative that was adopted last year to effectively spread the vision and advocacy of taking care of the environment.
Last year, among the causes helped by the race was the saving the Irawaddy dolphins at the Malampaya Sound Research and Conservation Project in Palawan.
