Aboitiz signs up Walter Mart for power supply deal

-

As “customer nod” is the toughest competition that power players confront these days, Aboitiz Power Corporation is undoubtedly elated on its announcement that its latest catch for a power supply contract is Walter Mart, a known pioneer in “community mall” experience for Filipino shoppers.

Malls are among the “Herculean contest” in cornering competitive retail customers – that licensed electricity suppliers would often talk big on their conquests.

The Aboitiz group noted that Walter Mart signed up for 4.7-megawatt capacity to satiate the growing electricity needs of its expanding mall portfolio.

The commercial-retailing firm has been targeting new branches in Batangas, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija and Tarlac for this year’s expansion.

And in the next five years, it plans to double its network from the 23 malls that it currently has under its sleeve in Metro Manila and other areas in Luzon.

The power supply pact, according to Aboitiz Power, had been sealed under the fiat of what remains as voluntary phase of retail competition and open access (RCOA) policy in the restructured electricity sector.

WM Shopping Center Management, Inc. Chairman Abraham Uy said the company gives premium to ensuring reliable power supply for the security and convenience of its mall shoppers.

With that secured, he noted that Walter Mart can already “focus on giving its customers a happy shopping experience,” aided by multiplicity of their shop offers and amenities.

Uy emphasized that they are latching on to the competence and exceptional performance of Aboitiz Power on hopes that they would end up as satisfied paying power customer.

“We trust that AboitizPower, with its proven track record in power generation and distribution, has the capacity to meet our requirements and help us deliver on our brand promise,” the Walter Mart group chairman stressed.

For Aboitiz Power, its first vice president for energy sales and trading Ochie Gloria indicated the company’s keenness “to work with them as we share the same vision of delivering reliable customer service.” (MMV)
