THE AGE OF POSSIBILITIES

-

That isn’t the case for everyone though. In fact, many associate those in their 50s and above to be slowing down in life. When it comes to experiencing new thrills, Millennials and their limitless glow of energy comes to mind. But what the parents of these Millennials may not realize at first is that with the age of wisdom, comes all new possibilities and adventures that they do not bother tapping because of that “slowing down” mindset. This outlook in life stops them from doing so many things they still can and must achieve—like exploring a new country, learning a new sport, or finding a new hobby. I guess the worn-out saying is true—age is really just a number. It all depends on how you’re going to look at it and, of course, how you are going to live it.

Nestle Health Science recently did a segmentation study in 14 countries and spoke to 19,000 consumers. Consumer marketing manager of Nestle Health Science Tricia Torcuato showed some interesting insights from their study. “The Philippines is not very different from the rest of the world if you see our target consumers who are aged 50 and above. This age group is growing faster than any other age group, growing at 36 percent in the next 10 years,” she said. “This age group is also living longer and because they’re living longer, they want to live a quality life—they want to live a good life. And because most of these consumers are retired, they actually have more time to spend on themselves.”

Nestle Health Science also found out that as people get older and as their bodies go through different changes, the more they want to get a good balance of exercise and get all the nutrition they need to maintain that youthful health. It is, according to Tricia, what keeps them going. These are active 50-year-old adults who are health conscious, looking at new approaches to keep their health in check and are actively doing something to prevent any age-related health issues.

Keeping this in mind, Nestle Health Science is keen to find solutions that will address the specific needs of these vast aging consumers. One of the countries involved in the study is the Philippines, which according to Nestle Health Science regional head Paul Bruhn, has one of the fastest growing populations in terms of the 50 and above age group.

That is why they’re introducing Boost in the Philippines, its first market in Southeast Asia where the range of products will be available. Boost is a nutritional powdered supplement drink from Nestle Health Science that is specially formulated for adults 50 and up. It will address their nutritional needs as they age in order to get the most out of life—to live up and be their best.

Boost has three variants: Optimum, Energis, and Mobilis.

Boost Optimum, the main Boost variant, is a scientifically developed adult nutrition supplement that addresses nutritional needs as you age, helping you maintain overall health to avoid minor illnesses and medication. If combined with regular physical exercise, Boost Optimum can improve strength in as early as six weeks.

On the other hand, Boost Energis provides effective levels of nutrients that give strength and vitality to help you stay active. It is rich in high quality protein which contributes to the maintenance of muscle mass, and it contains 20 vitamins and minerals.

And lastly, Boost Mobilis which contains active ingredients that support the three main pillars of movement—joint, muscles, and bones for good mobility. It contains 24 vitamins and minerals and is very rich in vitamin C which contributes to normal collagen formation for normal function of cartilage.

“We believe we have the responsibility to provide nutritional therapies that change the way we approach health, and ultimately help create a better quality of life for our consumers,” says Paul Bruhn.

During their official launch, Boost brought together few of the country’s personalities and their children to show us how baby boomers and Millennials are more alike than we think. In attendance were Ramon Jacinto with his son, RJ Jacinto, Tessa Prieto-Valdes with her daughter, Annika, Ruby Gan with her son, Ralph Tee Ten, and Quinto Henson with his daughter Cristina Henson.
