Ilocos RDC launches 6-yr growth, dev’t plan
SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union — The Regional Development Council-Region 1 (RDC1) has launched a 6 – year Regional Development Plan (RDP) for the IlocosPangasinan provinces in a road show of Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 20172022 recently.
The launching last Wednesday was realized after the full-council meeting of the members of the RDC1, chaired by Vigan City Mayor Juan Carlo Medina.
Medina cited the all-out efforts of the RDC member-agencies and various committees of the council in formulating the plan that provides the strategic direction for the development of the Region 1.
The RDP 2017-2022 aims to lay a strong foundation for inclusive growth, a high – trust and resilient society, and a globally – competitive regional knowledge economy in the Ilocos – Pangasinan region.
As a major producer of agri-fishery products and being endowed with many tourist attractions, the region envisions to become the agri-business and tourism hub in the northern part of the country.
“After a laborious and broad – based consultative process steered and participated by the different regional line agencies, local government units (LGUs), non – government organizations (NGOs) and stakeholders, I am delighted that we are now launching the RDP 2017 – 2022 for Region 1,” Medina said.
Medina said that the plan is anchored with three pillars such as “malasakit,” “pagbabago,” and “patuloy na pag- unlad.”
The Region 1 RDP covers the full term of President Duterte and supports his socioeconomic agenda in promoting rural and value chain development toward increasing agricultural and rural enterprise productivity and rural tourism.
