Investments in agribusiness will be among the highlights of the 2017 edition of Agrilink trade show which will be held on October 5-7 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

He announced that the Department of Agriculture’s Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service (DA-AMAS) will be promoting its agribusiness investment, promotion and market development programs.
Leandro Gazmin, DA-AMAS’ director, revealed that the agency’s core programs and current projects are focused on supporting the agribusiness sector by improving its global competitiveness, developing market linkages for farmers and equipping them with the right and applicable technologies as well as market information in order to maximize their value chains.
Gazmin said that all these start by creating and strengthening the promotion of our products to local and international markets. He added that DA-AMAS has been successful with promoting exports of value-added products derived from coconut, guyabano, calamansi, ginger, muscovado sugar, high-value rice varieties, durian and yam.
He also cited the strong export performance of Philippine tropical fruits like mango, durian and banana as well as coffee and cacao. He noted that the products they have been promoting for exports are varieties that have passed international standards, which is why cultivating the best cro p variety that can withstand the logistics of exporting them is important, along with the use of improved postharvest technologies.
Gazmin also reported that among the projects involved are agribusiness investment forums held throughout
