Lion’s share still with MP Pacquiao earned $10 M in 1st fight; Horn got $.5 M

Despite being the challenger, Manny Pacquiao will earn much more than what Australian champion Jeff Horn is getting in the event they face off in a rematch in November.

Top Rank chief Bob Arum told the Manila Bulletin that the contract in the rematch calls for Pacquiao to get the lion's share of the money.

"Manny would get the much larger purse," said Arum when asked about how the two sides would share the revenue.

Horn carved out a disputable 12round unanimous decision last July 2 at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, and reportedly pocketed just $500,000, while Pacquiao took $10 million.

However, Arum didn't say exactly how much Pacquiao is guaranteed although the Australian media recently reported that the 29-year-old Horn is assured of $2 million in case a second meeting takes place.

Pacquiao, who turns 39 in December, has yet to issue a statement regarding his future although recent pronouncements suggest that the eight-division titleholder is not retiring just yet.

In his social media post last week, Pacquiao wrote that helping the poor remains his motivation in fighting and in a story the Bulletin ran last week, the Filipino southpaw said he will be busier on offense the next time.

Horn is likewise looking forward to a rematch as another win should prove his detractors wrong.

Arum said that while Brisbane gets the first crack at hosting a rematch, the unpredictable weather conditions during November is one reason why another city could end up holding the fight.

The Suncorp Stadium, while it can accommodate more than 52,000, doesn't have a retractable roof that Melbourne's Etihad Stadium boasts of.

Sydney is also in the running and Arum says that while all three Australian cities are dying to get the hosting rights, one other major factor has to be considered.

Pacquiao hasn't made a decision yet.
