Bounty for mediaman’s killers
ISULAN, Sultan Kudarat – Local officials have raised and offered R400,000 for information that would help shed light on the murder of a newspaper reporter here.
Sultan Kudarat Gov. Pax Mangudadatu said the provincial government has allocated some R300,000 as reward money for informants who can pinpoint the suspects responsible for the killing of Leodoro Diaz, a reporter of a local tabloid who was gunned down by still unidentified gunmen aboard a motorcycle in President Quirino town last August 7.
Mangudadatu vowed to bring justice to the family of Diaz, the second journalist killed in the city since 2005.
Diaz, a reporter and colum- nist of Sapol News was driving his motorcycle on his way to Tacurong City when waylaid by the suspecst in Barangay Kalanawi, President Quirino.
President Quirino Mayor Azel Mangudadatu has also put up a R100,000 reward money for pertinent information on the perpetrators of the attack.
Undersecretary Joel Egco of the Presidential Task Force on Media Security, urged local police authorities to expedite the investigation into the killing of Diaz who was laid to rest on Wednesday in a private farm in Barangay Katiko, President Quirino town.
Diaz’s wife asked Egco to urge the National Bureau of Investigation and the PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group to conduct a deeper probe into her husband’s death.
