MARAWI CHILDREN AND SOLDIERS GET HELP FROM INSULAR

-

Insular Life, recognizing its duty as a sociallyresponsible citizen, has taken steps, through its Insular Foundation, to help in turning around the destructive effects of the Marawi attack.

Partnering with the Save Our Children Foundation, it extended a 1220,000 donation which will be used to provide displaced children with school kits, build them a Temporary Learning Space, as well as provide teaching materials for teachers in the area. Insular Foundation Chairman Nina D. Aguas said that “the donation is a demonstration of support for the relief efforts being done in Marawi City. It is consistent with the mission of our Foundation, to help make lives better, by making sure that basic services such as education, are unhampered.”

Meanwhile, as a show of support for the government troops, employees raised a total of 1407,000 through the Adopt-A-Soldier Fund Drive. The money was used to buy 817 sets of hygiene kits consisting of two army T-shirts, two pairs of combat socks, a face towel, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, shaver, alcohol and bath soap. Employees also wrote letters of support and encouragement to boost the morale of the soldiers. These were turned over to the Civil-Military Operations Group (CMOG) of the Philippine Army led by Major Michael Angelo Ramirez, together with the Junior Chamber International President Janeth Co. The turnover was led by Aguas, Insular Life President and Chief Operating Officer Mona Lisa B. Dela Cruz and Insular Life Senior Executive Vice President Jose Alfonso G. Hofilena, along with other donor employees.

Insular Life’s 45 employee volunteers, together with SAGIP kids from the Gawad Kalinga Manggahan Village in Parañaque, went for a hospital visit to 33 Marine soldiers wounded during the attack in Marawi and are now confined at the Manila Naval Hospital.
