- By KATE LOUISE B. JAVIER

The number of killings in the war against drugs has gone down to one dead in Caloocan City, a week after the death of Kian delos Santos. A police report showed that from August 19 to 24, only one suspected drug personality was gunned down by members of the Caloocan Police after the suspect reportedly resisted arrest.

Police Chief Inspector Ilustre Mendoza identified the slain drug personality as Joel Agosto, 37, of Block 19, Lot 15, Phase 2, Package 2, Barangay 176, Bagong Silang, Caloocan. He died during an anti-drug operation in Caloocan City Monday night.

On Aug. 18, two days after Kian’s death, a police report said that 13 persons died in Caloocan during the “One Time Big Time” operations.

Meanwhile, 11 drug suspects were nabbed on Aug. 23 in separate anti-illegal drugs operations.

Kian delos Santos, a 17-year-old student who dreamed of becoming a cop, was shot by policemen during an “Oplan Galugad” in Barangay 160, Libis, Baesa, Caloocan on August 16.

The police claimed Kian was a drug runner and was killed after he allegedly resisted arrest. But Barangay 160 officials said Kian was not on their drug watch-list.

Meanwhile, hundreds of protesters from different groups joined the “Walk for Justice” last Monday, condemning the killing of Kian and all the victims of extra-judicial killing.
