CANDABA, Pampanga – Mayor Danilo Baylon on Friday led the distribution of some 4,000 broilers to local residents in a bid to further underscore that poultry products are safe to eat amid the bird flu outbreak that struck parts of the province.

Baylon was assisted by his municipal employees in the distribution activity, where saw thousands of people getting free live chickens.

“This is only to prove to the public that Candaba is free of the avian flu virus,” Baylon said.

“Ito rin ay para ipakita natin na yung broiler hindi naapektuhan ng bird flu,” he added.

Mayor Baylon disclosed that he has been distributing free

chickens even before the bird flu outbreak.

Maribel Nieves, who was among those who received a chicken, echoed the mayor’s statement, saying that chicken and other poultry products, including ducks and eggs from Candaba, are safe to eat.

“Tiwala po kami dahil kumakain po kami ng manok at itlog. Araw araw po kaming kumakain ng manok (We’re confident as we eat chicken and eggs daily),” Nieves said.

She lauded the initiative of their mayor for bringing back the trust of people to the poultry industry in the province.

Candaba is one of the biggest producers of chicken and duck eggs in the country.
