Faeldon blasts Lacson at BOC rites

- By BETHEEN KAE UNITE

Bureau of Customs (BOC) outgoing Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon showed up yesterday at the Port of Manila and challenged Senator Panfilo Lacson to file charges against him.

“I challenge you (Lacson) again to file cases against all those you have named involved in corruption. Because if you cannot file cases against us that is such an idiotic move of yours,” Faeldon said during his last flag-raising ceremony at the BOC. “Senator Lacson you have to file (a) case against me and the rest of those you have accused. Bring us to court so that justice will be served,” he added. He said Lacson was an “irresponsible senator.” “You’re supposed to act as a senator. You’re supposed to act as a responsible senator. Yes, this bureau is problematic, but it does not give you the right to accuse everybody here. We are human beings like you. You are so irresponsible Panfilo Lacson,” Faeldon said.

Faeldon also vowed to file a case against the senator’s son for his alleged smuggling activities “so that Lacson’s hypocrisy will be bared naked.”

Commendation

Meanwhile, Secretary of Finance Carlos Dominguez lauded Faeldon for his one-year stint in the bureau despite the 16.4-billion drug mess.

“In a brief time that you served as the Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner, you have proven to be a man of unquestionable integrity,” Dominguez said in a commendation letter addressed to Faeldon dated Aug. 22, 2017.

The Finance secretary praised Faeldon for his dedication and perseverance saying that during Faeldon’s term the Customs bureau was able to exceed its collection target.
