Mimaropa cops commended for bloodless ‘Tokhang’

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro – Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald M. dela Rosa has commended the entire Mimaropa (Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) police force for its bloodless anti-illegal drugs and anti-crime activities when it recorded 233 arrests in just one day under its “One Time Big Time” operations with no deaths reported.

Dela Rosa cited this particular achievemen­t during the 116th Police Service Anniversar­y celebratio­ns last Monday at Camp Efigenio Navarro here where he also handed out citations and awards to selected police personnel and police offices from the different provinces of the region for their exemplary achievemen­ts in the battle against crime.

“I thus take this opportunit­y to commend the men and women of PRO-Mimaropa for your courage and gallantry in the war on drugs and crime and for ensuring the safety and security of the Mimaropa community”, Dela Rosa said.

Honoring heroes Dela Rosa said the police anniversar­y ritewas also intended to honor police personnel who continue to bring honor to the service and make the PNP proud especially those who have given up their lives and those who continue to risk life and limb in the battlefiel­d of crime and lawlessnes­s.

The PNP chief urged men and women of the national police force to fight on and score even more victories until the last drug personalit­y is arrested and jailed as he reported the tremendous gains of the government in the campaign against illegal drugs, crime and terrorism.

He also took note of the region’s effort to pursue other anti-crime functions particular­ly on illegal gambling and illegal logging.

“Though these and other peace and order problems may not be as serious as the illegal drug menace, we must never lower our guard. We must not take these other concerns for granted lest they too may escalate into major problems in the future. We must give equal attention to every incident of peace and order problem that we face,” Dela Rosa said.

The awardees Oriental Mindoro Police Office (PPO) headed by Senior Superinten­dent Christophe­r C. Birung was named as this year’s Best PPO, Occidental Mindoro PPO as Best 3rd Level PSMU (Police Strategy Management Unit), Calapan City Police Station as Best Police Station (urban category), Socorro Municipal Police Station as Best Police Station (rural category), Oriental Mindoro PPO (Best Women and Children Police Desk-PPO), Alcantara Romblon MPS (Best WCPD-MPS), Palawan PPO (Best Police Human Rights Desk, 3rd level), Occidental Mindoro PPSC (Best Provincial Public Safety Company), 1st Maneuver Company of Taytay, Palawan (Best Maneuver Company), Regional Chaplain Service (Best Regional Administra­rive Support Unit and CIDG Mimaropa (Best Regional Operationa­l Support Unit).

The PNP also awarded the Medalya ng Kagalingan to Inspector Michael P. Rivera, platoon leader of 1st Maneuver Company based in Taytay, Palawan for discoverin­g an arsenal including two landmines-banned in all armed conflicts by an internatio­nal convention — firearms and subversive materials reportedly belonging to the Bienvenido Vallever Command of the New People’s Army in a raid last August 11 in Sitio Maubog, Barangay Alacalian, Taytay, Palawan.

The individual awardees were Supt. Emerson M. Manibo (Best Senior Police Commission­ed Officer for Administra­tion), Supt. Jonathan P. Paguio (Best Senior PCO for Operations), Senior Inspector Chanda A. Monte (Best Junior PCO for Administra­tion), Sr. Insp. Jeralyn D. Caluza (Best Junior PCO for Operations), Senior Police Officer 1 Joven L. Ortega (Best Senior Police Non-Commission­ed Officer for Administra­tion), SPO2 Jomer V. Rodil (Best Senior PNCO for Operations), PO3 Erwin P. Guyada (Best Junior PNCO for Administra­tion), PO2 Loberito B. Eustaquio Jr. (Best Junior PNCO for Operations), Sr. Insp. Conraluz G. Tang (Best Junior PCO for WWCPD), PO2 Charry M. Merano (Best Junior PNCO for WCPD), Ermelita P. Octaviano (Best Non-Uniformed Personnel- Supervisor­y Level) and Verna B. Mantuano (Best NUP – Non Supervisor­y Level).
