Three government agencies are slated for abolition amid corruption allegations, President Duterte announced over the weekend.

The President has identified two of the three corruption prone agencies as the Road Board and the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA), and asked the help of Congress to dismantle them.

“Pag hindi mo na-control ang corruption sa gobyerno, walang mangyayari sa buhay na ‘to kaya talagang hihiritan ko [If you don’t control corruption in government, nothing will happen in this life so I will really take a jab at them],” he said during the Mindanao Business Conference held in Cagayan de Oro last Saturday.

“When I go back next week, I will abolish one to three agencies. ‘Yung Road Board, they have to go. ‘Yung Sugar Regulatory Board, I will abolish it. Just place it in an office,” he added.

Duterte said one of the officials from the agency has even hired three consultants, paying them R200,000 each month, which he claimed was bigger than his pay as President.

The President said he would let Congress deal with the abolition of such agencies so the funds could be transferred to beneficial projects.
