20 teams vie in Fed shootout

With the elimination phase about to wind up, the Federation of Golf Clubs Philippines, Inc. braces for a fierce final showdown in the 2017 Federation National Team Shootout on Sept. 23-24 at the Luisita Golf Club in Tarlac.

In fact, the Federation is drawing up a grand festive celebration for the finale featuring 20 of its 34 club members that have committed to compete in the revival shootout last held in 2006.

Each team will be composed of four players in the much-awaited event which stakes fabulous prizes, including a Mizuno golf set (for each team member) and a Mission Hills, China vacation package.

Among the early entrants are host club Luisita’s Efren Leonardo, Fr. Ken Feliciano, Joe Celis and Edsel Espina while Manila Golf have Alex Prieto, Marixi Prieto, Fausto Preysler Jr. and Eisaku Maru on its roster.

Other clubs are Sta Elena, Alta Vista, Canlubang, Cebu CC, John Hay, Ayala Greenfield, Eastridge, Eagle Ridge, Forest Hills, Iloilo, Mimosa, Malarayat, Orchard, Pueblo de Oro, Riviera, Northwoods, Summit Point, Valley, and Tagaytay Highlands.

Meanwhile, Federation president Ogie Manalo also said the group is planning to put up a Federation-type of Interclub competition that will be added into its annual calendar of events.

“First, we'd like to thank Luisita for graciously agreeing to host the shootout. The Federation will be more active in 2018 as more tournaments have been lined up,” said Manalo.
