Marawi to receive medical equipment from US group

CLARK FREEPORT – World Medical Relief, Inc. (WMRI) President and CEO George Samson said his group is donating hospital equipment to help rehabilita­te war-torn Marawi City as the Michigan-based charitable institutio­n continues to fulfill its mission to “help God’s sick poor.”

Noel G.Tulabut, Comminicat­ions manager of Clark Developmen­t Corp. (CDC) said Samson made the announceme­nt in the recent Balitaan of Capampanga­n in Media, Inc. here.

“We will be sending 20 containers to help in the reconstruc­tion and rehabilita­tion of Marawi hospitals,” Samson, a Filipino, said during the media forum.

The shipment is being facilitate­d by Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporatio­n.

The containers will be loaded with hospital equipment such as X-ray machines, cardiac monitors, operating room tables, surgical tools, beds, scopes, and other medical supplies.

They are expected to arrive in the Philippine­s in the next few months.

One 40-foot container van could carry hospital equipment with value ranging from $300,000 to $500,000.

Dr. David Zarate, WMRI Ambassador of Health in the Philippine­s, said the 64-yearold charitable institutio­n has previously donated medical equipment to healthcare facilities in Mindanao, including the SMD General Hospital in Marawi City.

A WMRI report stated that the Philippine­s has been recipient of about $500 million worth of medical equipment and supplies since 1994.
