Marawi to receive medical equipment from US group
CLARK FREEPORT – World Medical Relief, Inc. (WMRI) President and CEO George Samson said his group is donating hospital equipment to help rehabilitate war-torn Marawi City as the Michigan-based charitable institution continues to fulfill its mission to “help God’s sick poor.”
Noel G.Tulabut, Comminications manager of Clark Development Corp. (CDC) said Samson made the announcement in the recent Balitaan of Capampangan in Media, Inc. here.
“We will be sending 20 containers to help in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Marawi hospitals,” Samson, a Filipino, said during the media forum.
The shipment is being facilitated by Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation.
The containers will be loaded with hospital equipment such as X-ray machines, cardiac monitors, operating room tables, surgical tools, beds, scopes, and other medical supplies.
They are expected to arrive in the Philippines in the next few months.
One 40-foot container van could carry hospital equipment with value ranging from $300,000 to $500,000.
Dr. David Zarate, WMRI Ambassador of Health in the Philippines, said the 64-yearold charitable institution has previously donated medical equipment to healthcare facilities in Mindanao, including the SMD General Hospital in Marawi City.
A WMRI report stated that the Philippines has been recipient of about $500 million worth of medical equipment and supplies since 1994.
