Leni leaves protest fee fate to SC
It will be up to the Supreme Court (SC) to decide on the petition of her supporters who want to pay the remaining balance of R7.4 million for her counter protest, Vice President Ma. Leonor “Leni” Robredo said.
Robredo told the SC, sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET), in a manifestation that the decision on the petition is “best left to the wisdom and full discretion” of the High Tribunal.
“The Motion for Reconsideration filed by movants-petitioners is hinged on their right to suffrage,” she said, referring to the proponents of the Piso Para sa Laban ni Leni campaign.
Robredo’s lawyers Romulo Macalintal and Maria Bernadette Sardillo filed their manifestation on September 15, the last day of their deadline to comment on the motion for reconsideration filed by the group. Members of the Piso Para sa Laban ni Leni are still waiting for the decision of the PET on their motion after it had earlier denied their petition to pay the amount on behalf of Robredo.
