The Judicial Bar Council (JBC) has opened applications for two vacant seats at the Sandiganbayan and Court of Appeals (CA).

In its announcement dated September 15, the JBC gave applicants up to November 2 to file their applications and the required documents.

The vacancies became available after Sandiganbayan Associate Justice Alexander Gesmundo was appointed to the Supreme Court (SC) last August 14 and CA Associate Justice Melchor Quirino Sadang’s optional retirement was approved on August 1.

“The actual receipt by the JBC of the applications and complete documentary requirements shall be deemed as the date of filing,” read the announcement posted by Clerk of Court and JBC Ex Officio Secretary Felipe Anama.

“Qualifications of applications shall be reckoned from the said deadline,” he added.

The JBC also announced it will conduct a public interview this September 25 of applicants vying for the post of CA presiding justice.

The post became vacant after Presiding Justice Andres Reyes Jr. was appointed to the SC last July 12.

Among the over 60 CA justices, those who are scheduled for interview are Justices Romeo Barza, Marlene Gonzales Sison, Normandie Pizarro, Remedios Salazar Fernando, and Rowena de Juan Quinagoran.
