Question everything

DID the past administration file airtight charges against Enrile, Revilla and Estrada? Or were they too flimsy, “just for show”, or contrived roadshow presentations for the Daang Matuwid narrative? Does the current administration really have the goods against De Lima or did it just abuse its powers in order to detain her?

Who granted pardon to convicted plunderer Joseph Estrada? Who lobbied for the pardon? Why is the Duterte administration keeping 400+ political prisoners in jail? Is it like other administrations that charge and detain political opponents, critics, activists and revolutionaries?

If CHR critics are truly concerned about its perceived bias, what have they actually done to the massacres they cite in lambasting the CHR? Or are they merely citing human rights violations as a convenient argument?

If Duterte is really concerned about the victims of the Bulacan massacre, what orders has he given the police and the DOJ to ensure that justice is served? Or he just cites the incident as “an argument” against critics?

If death squad supporters, and defenders of extrajudicial killings are actually angry on behalf of victims of rape, murders and other crimes perpetrated by drug-crazed criminals – what have they done to help the cause of justice? Do they seriously think that killing 12,000 suspected pushers and addicts is equal to justice? How many more should die in this kind of “justice”?

What exactly are the causes that propel Duterte Today, Crabbler, Thinking Pinoy and Mocha Uson Blog? Is it merely to protect the President? How about Endo, right to housing, universal health care, RH bill, peace talks and other reforms? Or are they merely riding on the popularity of Duterte so they could also be popular? Are they examples of “mga langaw na nakatungtong sa kalabaw”?

What is the point of some Yellows when they accost and molest people about their votes? What was the correct vote? Didn’t Mar Roxas concede the elections? Is politics merely about their attempts to overcome feelings of failure and rejection?

Why are some Yellows blasting Reds for forging an alliance with Duterte? Were the Reds wrong in voting against the death penalty, the defunding of the CHR, the extension of martial law? Nagpakain ba sa sistema sina Manay Judy at si Ka Paeng? Why don’t they ask Gina Lopez the same question about supporting and enabling a dictator and murderer? Why not ask LPs who have stayed as LP but voted with the pro-Duterte supermajority? Or the former diehard LPs who have since jumped ship to PDP Laban?

What’s with Duterte folks painting all critics of Duterte as “Dilawan” when many are clearly “Pula”? Why didn’t they support Gina, Judy and Ka Paeng in their confirmation hearings? Or do they now support Big Mining, Pork-addicted Lawmakers and the Big Landlords just because Duterte does the same?

What’s the big difference in the level of arrogance of pro-PNoy fans when PNoy was in power, and the pro-Duterte fans under the Duterte administration? Aren’t they both hyper allergic to criticisms, and think in terms of “might makes right” over science, law, political debate, consensus-building and adherence to the Constitution?

Since Duterte’s main office is based in Manila and most of his statements are made in the capital, should we tell pro-Duterte Mindanaoans to shut up and not meddle in a clear Imperial Manila issue? Malayo naman sila, di ba? Why should taxpayers from other places support Duterte spending their tax money for martial law in Mindanao?

Why are trolls and ordinary people acting like trolls violently reacting when their comments are deleted or their accounts blocked? Are they expecting others to just allow them to freely post rape/death threats, expletives, or bigoted statements? Aren’t they lucky that nobody has yet taken the effort to document their offensive/ objectionable behavior online and furnished their family/school/employers? Aren’t they aware that their behavior could be against laws, school rules and company rules?

Would Secretary Aguirre also file charges against policemen who violated the privacy of Ateneo and UP students, or he alone has the right to privacy? Has Secretary Aguirre confirmed the content of his text message that was captured by zoom lens of cameras? Is he admitting he is tipping the scales against another senator?

Why should we be obliged to support President Duterte when he clearly supports oligarchs, death squads and militarists? Why can’t he deliver his promise to end and ban contractualization? What has happened to his proposals for a national minimum wage and for free land distribution to farmers? Has he been captured by the oligarchs and Big Landlords?

Who elected Mocha Uson, RJ Nieto, Bruce Rivera and Sass Sasot as representatives or spokespersons of Duterte supporters? Is it not possible that they could be misrepresenting millions of people?

Should we now get rid of the courts, fiscal and lawyers? What’s their role in the Duterte administration if all the so-called suspects in drug-related offenses could be summarily executed and extrajudicially killed? Should we abolish the PAO, NBI and CIDG, and give Sass Sasot the duty to conduct autopsies and forensic examinations? Are autopsies and forensic examinations still important if the administration thinks the deaths fought the police and thus deserved their fate? Or are we keeping the justice system only to defend and absolve Paolo Duterte and other suspected big-time drug personalities?

How many more days does Secretary Tugade need to fix what’s broken with the MRT and the new MRT coaches his agency claims to be defective? Who will be owning and financing the Manila subway? Would it be the same as MRT -- owned by a private consortium but funded by taxpayers? What has happened to the promise of trains for Visayas and Mindanao?

Is politics no merely limited to two choices? To blindly support Duterte or to pine for the not-so-distant past? Are there other points of view about how to bring change to the Philippines?

Why are most Big Businesses, Big Oligarchs and Big Landlords quiet about the orgy of extrajudicial killings and summary executions? Don’t they sense the Duterte administration’s march towards a dictatorship? Or they support the Duterte administration despite the killings because it pursues the same anti-worker, and anti-poor economic program of previous administrations?
