Janella Salvador shares her experiences in making ‘My Fairy Tail Love Story’
With her charm and sweet voice, Janella Salvador is ready to captivate more Filipino moviegoers. In a recent interview after signing for projects with Regal Entertainment, she said “My Fairy Tail Love Story” has her playing a mermaid named Chantel.
It’s a dream come true for the 19year-old singer-actress.
“Super fun and dami kong na learn because of this,” she said.
In preparing for the role, Janela took swimming and diving lessons, and even what she called “mermaid” lessons so she could imbibe how the mythical creatures are supposed to move under water.
Good thing Janella enjoys wearing the mermaid tail and didn’t mind the weight of it particularly as it was made of silicone.
She cleared her upper garment will match her age and age. “The costume is actually nice pero from the start naman minake sure namin na hindi too revealing ’cause ayoko pa din, I’m shy pa.”
Janella recalled her wardrobe malfunction while shooting “My Fairy Tail Love Story.” “’Di naman natuloy, actually muntik lang,” she noted. “Kasi ’yung unang costume ko for the mermaid parang ’yung silicone as in dinidikit lang siya (sa chest part). When I went underwater, siyempre ’yung water na nahaluan na ng pawis, natanggal ’yung dikit niya pero before it fell off, sinabihan ko na sila so wala namang nakita.” It’s no longer a problem for Janella as she’s used to wearing the costume. The only downside now is her getting sunburned. “Na sunburn talaga ako ng sobra as in ’di ko magalaw ’yung face ko to the point na ’di na ako makatawa ng maayos kasi nga talagang nasunog ako. So ’yun ’yung pinakamahirap
sa pinagdaanan ko,” she explained. She shared they shot some of the scenes in Zambales, and at different beaches around Batangas, like in Anilao.
Reel to real?
Janella is again being paired with Elmo Magalona.
She believes it’s their advantage to work together again as they are already familiar with each other. Note they were last seen in the 2017 suspense thriller film “Bloody Crayons.” Prior to that, they starred in “Born For You” and “Wansapanataym: Holly And Mau.”
“Dito, it’s a different experience. Good thing nagtutulungan kami, pero same pa rin naman kami. We’re still enjoying our relationship sa work and even off cam,” she said.
Asked if they are already an item, Janella was quick to answer: “Hindi pa. Hindi, hindi.”
“We are happily working together,” she added.
She noted they indeed have a relationship outside work but they’re “not rushing into a (romantic) relationship yet.”
“We’re just really important to each other naman. ’Yun ’yung masasabi ko lang and ’yun nga we’re not rushing kasi talagang
’yung priority namin is work,” she maintained.
Janella also cleared they’re not exclusively dating as “we’re not putting any label (on their relationship).”
But is it because of her mother Jenine Desiderio who allegedly doesn’t like Elmo? “Hindi naman sa ayaw. I think mother is really (just) protective when it comes to their children. So, kung sino man lumapit diyan, talagang gusto nilang i-make sure na worthy and all,” she said. “I think she’s being a mother lang. And she really wants to get to know him or whoever man (na manliligaw).”
‘In God’s time’
Actually, Janella didn’t want to talk further about her mom when she was asked if they were on good terms. “’Di naman sa nagkatampuhan kami… basta we’re just going through normal things like any other mother and daughter relationship. Eventually I believe everything’s gonna be okay naman kasi in the end she’s still my mom,” she said. She remains mum on the matter when asked about the cryptic post her mom posted on social media some weeks back. “Siyempre lahat naman tayo nagulat and I’d rather not make a statement about it kasi ayoko pang lumaki. I don’t want to make this thing bigger kasi I believe naman na malapit na din maging okay,” she said. “In God’s time, maaayos siya.”
Janella also didn’t answer when asked if she’s still living with her mom or if they still meet once in a while. She simply said she will always respect her mom and that she values her opinion. (With report from Jojo P. Panaligan)
