It was the body of missing teenager Michael Angelo Remecio of Caloocan City that was found in a sack in Bulacan last week, the Public Attorney's Office (PAO) disclosed yesterday.

Dr. Erwin Erfe, PAO’s forensic laboratory director, said that Remecio has been dead for almost a week when his body was found.

Michael, 16, worked as tricycle driver and went missing after leaving the family residence at around 9 p.m. last August 26.

His parents, Genevie and Dionisio, proceeded to a morgue in Bulacan after learning that a decomposing body of teenager was found in a sack.

The body's hands were bound by nylon cord when discovered by garbage collectors in a stream in Evergreen Subdivision, Barangay Gaya-gaya, San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan.

“Michael’s medical history enabled us to confirm the body’s identity,” Erfe told the Manila Bulletin.

“We found out that he (Michael) had appendicitis before so he underwent surgery to remove his appendix. There is no appendix found in the decomposing body. Also, meron peklat sa bone sa may left elbow. Si Michael ay nagkaroon ng fracture doon mismo sa left elbow due to previous accident during a basketball game. Doon sa dalawa na iyon namin na-confirm na siya iyon,” Erfe explained.

Erfe, however, said that he cannot confirm the exact cause of death of the teenager due to its advance decomposition.

“It was hard to determine the exact cause of death due to advance decomposition of the body,” the PAO forensic doctor said.

"We want justice for Michael. We had a lot of dreams for our son," Genevie said in Filipino.

Supt. Fitz Macariola, SJDM police chief, said some leads pertaining to the teenager’s death are being pursued.
