Even after years of being a couple, Matteo Guidicelli doesn’t talk much about his girlfriend Sarah Geronimo to the press people except to say they are okay.

Even after years of being a couple, Matteo Guidicelli doesn’t talk much about his girlfriend Sarah Geronimo to the press people except to say they are okay.

Really? So why do they hardly pose photos of them together online lately, we asked recently to echo what some of their fans think.

“We just keep everything separate kasi, that’s the first step to everything. It makes everything easier if you keep things separate

talaga ’cause if we don’t, everything will get mixed up and that’s when the problems come,” he said.

The actor admitted though that these days, he and Sarah see less of each other than usual. Still, it doesn’t necessarily mean there’s a “problem.”

“We’re just too busy sometimes but we understand how it is,” he said. “We support each other.”

Sarah is often paired with popular hunks like John Lloyd Cruz and Gerald Anderson but Matteo is cool with it.

“Sa akin naman walang problema. It’s just work at the end of the day. We all have to act professionally,” was his simple reply.

Surprisingly, Matteo would rather not work with his girlfriend as they don’t want people thinking they are using each other or that they are a package deal.

“There were so many offers na but we both say no,” he said. “We know the true meaning of our relationship. It’s not showbiz, kumbaga it’s real and we want to protect it.” To those questioning his love for Sarah, Matteo just shrugs his shoulders. “Everybody always comes up with some theory but I know where I stand.” Truth be said, he thinks he is “the luckiest guy in the world” to have Sarah. “I’m very lucky because I found a woman that I could really trust and I could believe in. That’s the most important thing,” he enthused. “I guess that’s what partnerships are for. It is to help each other grow and become better people.”

It gets crazy

Though he usually ignores them, Matteo admits there are times online bashers get his goat.

“It gets irritating at times because I post about something like, say, working out and they talk about me na naglalandi daw ako sa iba. Alam mo ’yun? Mga crazy things like that,” he related. The actor revealed to have privately messaged some of them. “It’s very easy kasi to go over that line and I just want to remind them about social media responsibility,” Matteo shared. “Some kids think they’re Superman because they can’t see their enemy. They just talk and talk but at the end of the day you just have to stand by what you think and what you believe is true.” While one surmises Matteo’s actions could lead to trouble, the actor noted he actually earned some new friends in the manner, citing former politician Teddy Locsin who once bashed his performance on “Dolce Amore.” “We’re best friends now,” he divulged.

Fulfilling dreams

Aside from acting projects, Matteo is giving his singing career another stab.

“I wanna lie low a litte bit (sa acting) I wanna focus on this (singing) first because I notice you can’t do anything at once or else they’re just call you artista that sings or dances so I really wanna focus on this a little bit,” he said.

Matteo headlined his first major concert “#MatteoMadeInCebu” November last year. He is set to hit the stage anew via “Hey Matteo” at the KIA Theater on Nov. 30. Matteo promised to reveal his innermost self in the concert. “I just wanna come out with my own story and my own sound. My dream show talaga is something na very intimate, a small place, nice bar, just to send out my message. But now I decided to just do it in a big venue with a new concept, new vibe, new sound.”

The title of the concert is same as that of his upcoming all-originals album. Matteo said the new songs will be quite “relatable for millennials and millennials at heart.”

The collection includes “Take A Chance,” “Huwag Ka Ng Umuwi,” “Tahanan,” “Changes,” and “Other Half.”

We know the true meaning of our relationship. It’s not showbiz, kumbaga it’s real and we want to protect it.
