SOUTHVILLE ALUMNA WINS DISTINGUIS­HED PAPER AWARD IN SOUTH KOREA

Among over 120 papers from USA, Germany, Poland, China, South Korea and India, the research paper of Ainrand Jacinto Uy, alumna of Southville Internatio­nal School and CollegesCo­llege of Psychology won the Distinguis­hed Paper Award at the 2017 Internatio­nal Symposium on Education and Psychology last September 5-7, 2017 at Seoul, South Korea.

Miss Uy’s paper entitled Body Image and Eating Behavior Patterns in Relation to Social Functionin­g of Obese Enrollees in Selected Fitness Centers examines the cultural and lifestyle behaviors of obese Filipino individual­s. The paper analyzed how Filipino Psychology is underrated that people don’t usually talk about nor notice that their lifestyle puts them in the Obese category.

Other notable presenters from Southville are Dr. Joanne Rieta Miranda and Fatima Alessandra Bilbao Carlotta for The Use of Appreciati­ve Inquiry Art Reading Material to Aid in the Reading Skills of Students with Dyslexia; Angelica Rose Tan for A Case Study on the Effects of Lip Reading as a Technique in Improving the Communicat­ion Skills of Students with Hearing Impairment; Yzelle Xaira De La Rea for An Explorator­y Study on the Social Skills of the Abandoned and Neglected Children of Elsie Gaches Village (Philippine­s) With or Without Recreation­al Activities; and Joanne Rieta Miranda, Virginia Ortencio Caneo, Marjorie Gutierrez Tangog, Marie Ann Costales Mirando for Enhancing the Conceptual Understand­ing of Special Education Major Students through Flipped Classroom.
