Even beyond Big Bang, Taeyang bowls over fans
Big Bang member Taeyang showed what a great artist and performer he is at his first solo concert in Manila held a few days ago. The 29-year-old singer wowed the crowd at his “White Night World Tour.” The Philippines is Taeyang’s first stop after coming back to Asia following his North American tour where he performed in New York, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Atlanta and Chicago.
He opened the concert with “Ringa Linga” and “Body,” two tracks from his 2014 hit album “Rise.” This was followed by “Superstar,” “Wake Me Up,” “Only Look At Me” and “Wedding Dress.”
All of Big Bang’s concerts in the Philippines were successful and Taeyang reminisced his first visit to the country.
“The first time I came to Manila was for the ‘Big Bang Alive’ tour. Ever since then, I’ve been to Manila many times with Big Bang. I remember then that people here were very passionate. And I’m so happy to see you guys again,” he told the crowd.
The singer added, “I missed you guys a lot. How about you guys? Did you miss me?” to which the audience replied “Yes!”
For two hours, Taeyang pumped up fans with his performance of “Amazin’,” “1AM,” “Naked,” “So Good,” “I Need A Girl,” “Empty Road,” “Ride,” “Tonight,” “Love You To Death,” “Last Dance” and “Darling.”
Fans had a great time at the concert as they cheered, shout- ed and sang along with Taeyang.
The singer also talked about “White Night,” his third solo studio album released just August. “Personally, out of all my albums, I had the most fun making this album so I’m very satisfied and happy the way it turned out,” he said.
He considers being in the company of other Big Bang members as an important aspect of his life and said they have been together for a decade because of the fans.
“The biggest happiness and joy in my life is having my (fellow) Big Bang members. We were able to perform our music and spend the last 10 years together because of you guys. You guys have always been by our side. Salamat,” he explained.
For encores, Taeyang performed “Break Down,” “Good Boy,” “Stay With Me,” “Bang Bang Bang,” Fantastic Baby” and “Eyes, Nose, Lips.”
Taeyang was pleased with the crowd’s reaction. He thanked them for coming to watch the show.
“I don’t think I will ever forget tonight. Thank you so much Manila. I love you all. You guys are awesome. Manila, you guys are great. You are the best. Grabe ang
galing nyo,” he said. Taeyang later posted a selfie on Instagram and wrote, “Thank u Manila!! Last night was LIT!!”
