Malacañang ‘shookt’ over new SWS survey
As millennials would call it, Malacañang is “shookt.”
(Editor’s note: Shookt is a term coined by millennials to mean shocked or surprised.)
After saying that the second quarter Social Weather Stations (SWS) had leading questions, Malacañang admitted that it is surprised that more than half of Filipinos were incredulous to the “nanlaban (put up a fight)” reason of the police behind the death of drug personalities.
Based on the latest SWS poll, 54 percent of the 1,200 respondents believe that not all those slain in the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) anti-illegal drug operations put up armed resistance.
Presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella said this latest survey result was surprising as it contradicts the result of a survey which showed that majority of Filipinos support President Duterte’s drug war.
“Considering the fact that most people have approved and do continue to approve the President, these ‘results’ which I refer to as alarming, are seem to have been… I don’t know… It’s kinda surprising,” Abella said yesterday.
“It’s surprising vis-à-vis the approval of most people, 86 percent, 70 in the high percentiles,” he added, referring to the Pew Research Center Survey which showed that majority support Duterte and his drug war amid criticisms.
Duterte also welcomed the Pew study which showed that 86 percent of Filipinos support him while 78 percent support his all-out drug war.
