Kings neophyte suiting up for Game 3?
Barangay Ginebra San Miguel rookie Kevin Ferrer, who fractured his cheek in a scary fall two weeks in an elimination round game, says he could be ready for action in Game 3 against the Meralco Bolts in the ongoing PBA Governors’ Cup semifinals.
Rookie forward Kevin Ferrer could make his return for Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in Game 3 of their PBA Governors' Cup semifinal series against TNT KaTropa after suffering a fractured cheek during a bad fall against the same team in their elimination round match less than two weeks ago.
“Hopefully sa Friday makabalik na talaga,” Ferrer said after Ginebra's 121-94 victory over TNT in Game 1 of their best-of-five duel Monday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. “Normal na, as in. Wala nang pain. Hinihintay na lang go-signal ng doctor.”
The Gilas Pilipinas member got hurt when he landed face first after leaping over a faking Mo Tautuaa in the second quarter of TNT's 121-92 victory last Sept. 23. Ferrer was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Ferrer has missed the last two games, including Ginebra's 104-84 win over San Miguel in last week's quarterfinals, but recently began participating in non-contact drills at practice.
He hopes to be in full recovery as soon as possible and make an impact in Ginebra's title-retention bid this conference.
“Kailangan ko paghandaan kung anu yung dadatnan ko, sana maging malakas at better ako pagbalik ko,” Ferrer said.
