Cassandra and Maverick remain tentative on joining show business full on

- Matured As one

Despite being seen on several TV commercials and shows, Cassandra and Maverick, the twins of celebrity couple Zoren Legaspi and Carmina Villarroel, prioritize school over show business.

The two even mull studying abroad if it’s possible.

“I’m seeing the good and the bad of it (studying overseas),” Mavy said. “I’m also thinking of staying here, just staying with local colleges.”

Where does that leave show business?

“We’re just going with the flow right now,” Cassy answered.

“I’m not dropping the idea of it, it’s just that I’m really thinking about it,” Mavy added.

Zoren and Carmina would want to handle the career of their children if they decide to fully join the business.

“Gusto kasi namin may say kami (sa pag-guide sa kanila) kasi mas kakilala namin ang kambal,” Carmina explained.

“As parents meron pa rin kaming dos and don’ts,” Zoren said. “Ayoko naman silang isalang ng hilaw. Fear ko kasi ang sabihan sila na ‘Ay, puro itsura lang pala walang talent.’”

Both 16 years old, time draws near when the twins can decide for themselves. In fact, the parents think it may be sooner than later.

“I believe 16 is right time and if we miss that bus medyo mahihirapan kami,” Zoren said. “We need to decide on what they wanna do kasi kami naman very supportive lang on whatever that makes them happy.”

The couple divulged they’re turning down some offers to have the twins star on a TV soap. Again, all four think it’s not yet time. “We are not in a hurry, they’re not in a hurry and at the same time gusto ko maenjoy nila ’yung show business, ayokong ma-feel nila na nagta-trabaho sila,” Zoren said.

Zoren and Carmina allow the twins to enjoy their income from the different guestings they’ve done.

“From four to 13 years old, I really kept the money for them. Pero now medyo iba na kasi mahilig na silang mag-shopping tapos lumalabas na with friends so kailangan na nila ng cash and their own money din,” Zoren shared.

As early as now, they’re trying to teach Alam nila na ’yung pag-guesting sa kanila ’yun, pwedeng ipang-gastos.

Thankfully the twins are obedient and respectful.

“Ako naman lagi kong sinasabi na strict ako pero mas gusto ko na lang na overprotective kasi ganu’n ko lang talaga sila kamahal, ganu’n ko lang sila gustong ingatan. But when we say ‘No’ to them we explain the reason behind it,” Carmina said.

“Of course mababait sila but they’re not perfect kids.

’Pag ’di napapayagan

Carmina still treats the teenagers as her babies.

“’Pag nilalambing ko ’yung dalawa bini-baby ko, baby talk, kiss, hug. Hinaharot ko,” she said.

Cassy and Mavy reciprocate. They message them regularly when they are away from home due to work.

“Nag-text sila na ‘Hope you’re safe over there Pa, love you.’ O kaya after ng party na attend-an nila mag-thank you sila na ‘Thank you for letting as attend the sweet sixteen of this girl, I had a blast.’ Kaya masaya ako na very appreciative naman sila ’pag pinapayagan namin tsaka malambing sa mga text messages. Pwedeng physical at emotional,” Zoren shared.

Carmina noted the key to their family bond is their love and the time they make for each other.

“You really have to know your kids. Dapat priority mo pamilya mo, priority mo anak mo kaya kailangan unahin mo sila bago ang trabaho. Kasi kahit nasa trabaho kami we always talk, meron kaming Viber group kaya alam namin, involved kami,” Carmina said.

The Legaspi family endorses the one stop-shop drugstore Citidrug, whose tagline is “Para sa pamilyang Pilipino.”

Aside from generic and branded medicines they offer, it serves as a convenience store, bills payment services counter, and loading stations.

Carmina is confident they represent the brand perfectly.

“As a family, what you see is what you get. This is us – kung anong nakikita niyo sa commercial, anong nakikita niyo sa picture ay kami na ’yun, wala kaming any pretension.”
