3 Cordillera provinces declared drug-free

CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – The Cordillera regional police has declared a drugceared three provinces in the region during the 116th Police Service Anniversar­y celebratio­n over the weekend.

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald Dela Rosa awarded the drugfree province seals to seal to Apayao, Ifugao and Mountain Province and signed the pledge of commitment, among with the three provincial governors, and officials from the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Health and Philippine Drug Enforcemen­t Agency.

The pledge of commitment stated among others that the said provinces shall maintain their drug-cleared/ drug-free status by supporting the implementa­tion of the different activities and projects of the barangays.

One of the initiative­s is the implementa­tion of sustainabl­e livelihood projects as a reintegrat­ion program for former victims of illegal drugs.

Counseling programs and lectures on the ill-effects of drug abuse and the implementa­tion of measures towards drug abuse prevention are likewise being organized.

It is also specified that the drugcleare­d provinces will continue to pursue intensifie­d and unrelentin­g campaign against illegal drugs to maintain peace and order in the Cordillera region.
