CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Police in Central Luzon (CL) are already in high alert 10 days ahead of the expected arrival of some 400 foreign delegates to the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Leaders Summit set on November 16-17.

Chief Superintendent Amador V. Corpus, Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director, said the early deployment of police security personnel is aimed at ensuring a smooth and orderly hosting of the ASEAN Leaders Summit and Related Meetings.

Corpus said security preparations are already 95-percent complete and that the ASEAN Task Force CL-Clark will be all set as the bulk of 400 participants in the event arrive on October 23-24.

“Sa ngayon nasa heightened alert na tayo and by Monday full alert status na tayo. This is to ensure that the ASEAN meeting in Clark will be safe and not to be interrupted by some groups who might stage protest rallies,” he told the Manila Bulletin.

“All units have already been directed to secure the ASEAN event to ensure zero crime during the duration of the meeting,” he added.

The task force commander said around 5,000 to 7,000 CL police security force will be fully deployed to man all posts where the ASEAN event and related meetings will be held and to secure about 400 expected delegates in the Clark meetings.
