Janine records songs under Lady Gaga producer
Janine Gutierrez can lay claim to being an international recording artist – and how. The actress recently revealed recording two songs in the US with Moroccan-Swedish songwriter-producer RedOne, who has worked with many high-profile global artists as Lady Gaga, One Direction, Nicki Minaj, Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull, among others.
However, she did not disclose the title of the songs as these are still being finished. If anything, Janine is thankful for the opportunity, claiming she is the first Filipina to have done so.
The recording happened late August. It was held at RedOne’s studio in Los Angeles.
Working with RedOne is a dream come true for Janine. She described the producer “world-class.”
“Sobrang galing niya po ka-trabaho. Nag-save po sila ng isang buong araw para sa recording ko. Natapos po namin (’yung recording) in three hours lang,” she shared. “Kahit hindi po kami masyadong nagkakaintindihan… kasi may Tagalog version po (’yung song), sobrang collaborative po niya and super bilis niyang mag-trabaho. Nakita ko po talaga ’yung emotion sa bawat rhythm na pinapasok niya (sa kanta).”
It’s not surprising that Janine is gifted with good singing voice. After all, her grandmothers Nora Aunor and Pilita Corrales are professional singers.
Despite this, the actress remains humble. “Sabi ko nga po nu’ng nagre-record kami (ni RedOne), ‘Alam ba nila na hindi talaga ako singer?’ Kasi baka mamaya kapag hindi ko nagawa (ng maayos) ’yung kanta, ipa-deport nila ako,” she said, laughing. “Sobrang kinabahan po talaga ako kasi ’yung naka-display sa studio (na photo), talagang mga singer. Pero dahil sobrang generous po niya, naging maayos naman lahat.” Janine invited the producer to visit the country.
“Sabi ko maraming magaling kumanta (dito sa Pilipinas). Gusto naman daw po niya, tyaka mahilig din siya sa beach. Magaganda naman po ang mga beach dito sa atin,” she shared.
Under new management
Janine has signed a management contract with Professional Artists Managers, Inc (PAMI) member Leo Dominguez.
The 28-year-old actress was managed before by her mother, actress Lotlot de Leon, and was under by GMA Artist Center (GMAAC) for five years.
Despite leaving their wings, Janine is grateful for all the support of GMAAC.
“I’m thankful for all the projects na binigay nila sa akin kasi talaga naman pong inaalagaan nila ako ng maayos.”
According to Janine, it was her mom who endorsed her to Leo, who manages other actors as Lovi Poe and Solenn Heussaff.
Janine is so excited.
“Nasabi ko naman na po sa kanya ’yung mga gusto ko po sanang gawin and very supportive po siya (Leo). Excited na po ako sa mga projects na ibibigay niya sa akin. Nakakatuwa lang din po na part na rin ako ng PAMI, and alam naman po natin na halos lahat ng hawak ni Tito Leo ay very successful din,” she said.
On her own
Janine is not pressured to follow in the footsteps of her family, particularly her mother Lotlot and grandmother Nora Aunor, who are considered royalties in the acting industry.
She believes she can’t surpass Nora’s achievements but she strives to find her own piece of sky. “Matagal ko naman na pong pinepare ang sarili ko. Pangarap ko po na kahit papaano maging proud po sila sa mga achievements ko. Ang hirap po talagang pantayan ng achievements nila, pero wala pong pressure from Mama or from Mama Guy, in fact, very supportive po sila sa akin. “Ma-swerte lang din po ako na sila ang pamilya ko kasi nabibigyan po nila ako ng guide sa pagarte. Anytime, pwede po akong humingi ng advice sa kanila. Kaya sabi ko po, pagbubutihan ko po talaga sa mga projects na dadating sa akin. Gagayahin ko po kung gaano sila (family) ka-sipag mag-trabaho,” the actress-singer added. Janine is currently taping a digital series titled “Unbroken Hearts.”
Really?
Despite them having sweet pictures on social media, including photos from the recently concluded Star Magic Ball, Janine denied she and Rayver Cruz are an item.
“Close lang po talaga kami. Lumabaslabas kapag may time. Busy din po kasi siya eh, pero masaya naman po kami,” she said.
According to the actress, her mother and Rayver have been good friends for years. “Matagal na po silang magkakilala. Actually even before pa na naging magkaibigan po kami (ni Rayver),” she explained. Janine said career is her top priority. “I can’t deny naman po na masaya ako. Pero para po sa akin, sa ngayon career po muna talaga. Happy lang po kasi I believe madami pong dapat i-look forward in the future.”
