Old photo sparks another tirade from Mayor Sara

- By YAS D. OCAMPO

DAVAO CITY – An old photo of old alliances sparked the continued tirade of Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio against the opposition Saturday morning. The photo showed her with her father, then Davao Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, former President Benigno Aquino III, and former Liberal Party candidate Mar Roxas.

Davao Mayor Sara, who has begun a series of online attacks, said there was nothing to hide about the photo. She emphasized that she was not supportive of the Liberal Party at all, except for one of its candidates.

The remark is part of a series of Facebook posts of the presidential daughter defending her father from the opposition. The Facebook posts first targeted minority Senators

Antonio Trillanes IV, Francis Pangilinan, and Risa Hontiveros.

Recently, a photo showing father and daughter throwing yellow ballers during an election campaign was circulated online, suggesting that the Dutertes were the “original dilawans (yellows).”

Mayor Sara, agitated by the photo’s suggestion, said in her Facebook page: “Ah yes, you want to talk about this photo?”

Through the posts, the Davao City mayor said she was supportive of Roxas but not Aquino. “I've known Mar Roxas, sometime before the 2010 elections. Long story short, nagparaya siya kay PNoy. Kaya blue ang suot ko hindi yellow kasi si Roxas yun humingi ng tulong for Davao. So ayan na nga ang picture ng circus na parade (To make a long story short, he gave way to PNoy. That’s why I wore blue, not yellow, because it was Roxas who had asked for help from Davao. So, that’s what the photo of the ‘circus parade’,).”

The mayor praised Roxas, but remained critical of “PNoy” Aquino. “Of course we all know, there is something off with PNoy. Roxas is intelligent, PNoy among other things, is not. This fact was very obvious, Roxas was very apologetic; he looked pained.

Mayor Sara said President Duterte could not corroborate the statement because he was not at all paying attention to the LP figures.

“He [Roxas] can deny this, because my corroborative witness, PRD, at that time I can tell, was not listening to him. PNoy and Roxas bore PRD to death,” Mayor Sara said.

The presidential daughter recalled that she supported former President Joseph Estrada and Roxas. “Take note: Pres. Erap and VP Binay won in Davao City,” she said.

Mayor Sara said that she and Estrada go a long way back. “I became friends with Pres. Erap a year or two before the 1998 elections.

The mayor said she had even supported Estrada after he was ousted and left Malacañang. She was in front of Malacañang waiting to get in.

“Nasa park ako harap ng Malacañang. Ang corroborative witness ko buhay pa naman hanggang ngayon, he can tell you. Hinila ko siya doon kasi gusto ko pumasok magbigay ng moral support. From the palace gate tinitingnan lang kami ng PSG. By the look in their eyes there was no way we can even hold the gate. So, umupo nalang kami doon sa park. I waited until I couldn't wait anymore na makita ako ni Pareng Erap na nakaupo sa park. The next day, pagising ko sumakay na si Pres. Erap ng barge (I was at Malacañang Park. My witness, who is still alive today, can attest to that. I even pulled him to try to enter the gate to give moral support to Estrada. From the Palace gate, the PSG guards stared at us. We just sat where we were. I wanted Pareng Erap to see me there. The next day, when I woke, Pres. Erap had already left Malacañang aboard a barge),” she said.

The mayor said that the parade in the photo was nothing compared to the support her father received during the Byaheng Du30 road trip.

“Wala nga iyong kandidato doon, sticker ng mukha lang niya sa bus pero you should have seen the people who went out and helped us (Although the candidate was not there, only an image of him on a sticker on the bus, but you should have seen the people who went out and helped us).”

‘Injustigram’ The mayor also made fun of the Instagram handle of “Injustigram” and called its administrators “fake people behind fake accounts.”

“Tanga ka, injusticegram dapat yan, to be consistent sa tema ng black propaganda niyo, anong injustigram. Engot (You’re stupid. That should be ‘injusticegram’ to be consistent with the theme of your black propaganda. Idiot.)

Anecdotes Mayor Sara said she also has anecdotes about the Aquinos, Roxas, and Roxas’s wife Korina Sanchez.

“Maglabas muna kayo ng photo. Sabi ko nga di ba? Kayang-kaya ko tatlong dekada makipag away (Come out with the photos. I said already, I can fight against you for three decades),” she said on Facebook.
