EU opens its doors to Filipino students
Despite recent pronouncements made by the Philippine government against the European Union (EU), representatives from top-notch universities from EU member-states are expected to gather in Manila next week for the 2017 European Higher Education Fair (EHEF).
The EHEF is an annual event organized by the Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines together with the EU Member States’ Embassies and Cultural Institutions. It is also held in close collaboration with the Philippines’ Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
This year’s EHEF is scheduled on October 18 at the Grand Atrium of Shangri-La Plaza in Mandaluyong. It will feature more than 20 higher education institutions from Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Netherlands, Spain, and Sweden and United Kingdom. Representatives from the participating countries will also be present during the event to provide higher education opportunities for Filipino students in Europe.
In an earlier statement, EU Ambassador Franz Jessen said “education has always been and will remain a top priority for Filipinos.” Given this, he noted that “many have found that the higher education institutions in the European Union offer opportunities beyond comparison.”
Jessen said the with this year’s theme being “Sustaining Innovation and Excellence,” the EHEF 2017 “aims to showcase both innovation in teaching and learning techniques and curriculum par excellence of participating higher education institutions to a growing number of prospective Filipino students.”
