- By MARTIN A. SADONGDONG

A 47-year-old parking attendant was stabbed by a drunken man inside a cemetery in Pasay City Monday night.

Pinky Conquilla, 47, who has a shanty inside the Roman Catholic Cemetery on Arnaiz Avenue, sustained a stab wound in the left arm and grazed wounds in the hands.

Police arrested the suspect identified as Cristito Bayting, 37, who also works as a parking attendant inside the cemetery.

Initial investigation revealed that Conquilla and Bayting, who was already drunk, had a heated argument around 7 p.m. The suspect accused the victim of getting his customers who are visiting the cemetery, recalling that it was what the woman did to him during the All Soul’s Day last year.

The two were pacified by neighbors and Conquilla went back inside their house to cook dinner. However, minutes later, she heard a loud thud on their roof followed by the sound of shattered glass.

Conquilla went out of their house and saw a broken glass bottle in front of their house. A neighbor pointed Bayting as the one who threw the bottle on their roof so Conquilla went to the suspect’s house to confront him.

However, Conquilla was not aware that Bayting was already armed with a bladed weapon. Bayting stabbed Conquilla in the left arm but the victim managed to run and ask ed for help.

Conquilla was rushed to Pasay City General Hospital for treatment while Bayting was arrested in a follow up operation.

Bayting was brought to Pasay police headquarters and charged with attempted homicide.
