Three men, including a drug suspect, were arrested by the police after robbing a 60-year-old taxi driver in Navotas City yesterday morning.

Senior Police Officer 1 Allan Joey Ogatia III, case investigator, said Norberto Pagnanawon, 60, was robbed by Archie Angob, 38; Vicente Alexander Baltazar; and Ramil Layan, 20.

Initial investigation showed that Pagnanawon, who was on his way home, was flagged down by the three suspects along Padre Faura Street in Manila.

“Nagpahatid sila sa C-4 Road sa Navotas. Medyo malapit naman dahil pauwi akong Valenzuela kaya sinakay ko na kahit takot akong magsakay pag ganoong oras na,” Pagnanawon said.

Upon reaching C-4 Road, Baltazar reportedly declared a holdup and point- ed an ice pick against the taxi driver’s body at around 1:30a.m.

Pagnanawon surrendered his wallet and he was dropped along Road 10 Bridge before the suspects drove off with the taxi unit.

“Tinulak ako palabas ng taxi ko tsaka sila tumakas sakay nito. Nanginginig ako sa takot noon,” he narrated.

Pagnanawon’s son, Merbert, reported the incident to the Manila Police District (MPD) after he found the location of the taxi using GPS.

The suspects said they played bingo along Mabini Street in Manila near a police station after robbing the taxi driver.

MPD operatives spotted the three men who returned to the taxi unit.

“Galing raw silang bingguhan, noong natalo, bumalik sa taxi, sakto na inaabangan na namin sila,” PO1 Mark Louie Saupan told the Manila Bulletin.

Meanwhile, PO1 Christian Oclares said Baltazar was a big time drug pusher supplying clients in the Camanava area and Laguna.

“Matagal na kaming nag-surveillance kay Baltazar. Nakulong na rin iyan noon sa kasong drugs,” Oclares said.

Charges will be filed against the three men who are now detained at the Navotas City police station.
