VILLAR SIPAG GIVES ASSISTANCE TO DISTRESSED OFWS AND THEIR FAMILIES

-

Senator Cynthia A. Villar gave financial and livelihood assistance to the families of Roldan Blaza of Laguna and Wilson Eligue of Bataan – two Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who were abducted by the ISIS in March, 2015 and reported dead by their respective employers on last September 19.

Joramie Torres, a public school teacher who worked as a domestic helper in Malaysia and found by a Filipino couple abandoned and suffering from bruises, burns and boils received cash and sari-sari store package from All Home. Reah Marmojada of Las Piñas City, Angelica Cardenas of Ilocos Sur, Maria Maribeth Lingat of Tarlac City, Shan Kervin Victorino of Muntinlupa City, Mary Jane Fernandez of Ilocos Sur, and Normelita Noynoyan of Rizal all received cash and livelihood package from All Home.

The Senator who sits as director of Villar SIPAG said these OFWs suffered the pain of leaving their loved ones behind to work abroad to give their families a better life but were victims of various forms of maltreatment from their employers.

“So we need concerted efforts of both the public and private sector in order to help them with their livelihood. They remain to be the country’s “modern day” heroes due to their significant contributions to our economy. Their remittance of billions of pesos every year help keep our economy afloat,” Villar stressed.
