Bounty for arrest of Grab driver’s killer

-

The management of ride-hailing service provider Grab has offered a 1100,000 reward to anyone who can provide information that will lead to the arrest of the killer of Grab driver Gerardo Maquidato Jr. last October 26 in Pasay City.

Maquidato was shot dead and shoved out of his vehicle by a passenger who booked a ride with Grab.

The Pasay City Police yesterday bared that three to four individuals are already considered as persons-of-interest in the case.

Senior Superintendent Dionisio Bartolome, Pasay City police chief, said at least three to four persons have been identified by investigators who had transacted with the 37year-old Grab driver.

The identities of the persons-of-interest, however, have not been revealed so as not to jeopardize the ongoing investigation.

Bartolome further explained that they are also being careful since the system of GRAB-hailing service allows a person to book a car for another rider.

Bartolome said that it was the wife of Maquidato who confirmed the identity of the victim at Rizal Funeral Homes when she went to Pasay police headquarters.

In her affidavit, Brenda said that his husband left their home around 10 a.m. on October 26 to work but failed to return to their home in Barangay Culiat, Tandang Sora, Quezon City.

She then went to the Grab office on October 27 and learned that his husband’s last drop off route was at Doña Neneng Street in Pasay City, some 5.7 kilometers from Bonanza Street where his body was dumped by the gunman.

Bartolome said investigators likewise have information on the whereabouts of Maquidato’s silver Toyota Innova but it is still subject to verification.
