Makati, Marikina ‘Undas’ traffic plan

The Makati City government has started enforcing a traffic rerouting plan to ease traffic flow within the vicinity of Manila South Cemetery that will take effect until November 2.

Makati’s Public Safety Department (PSD) said Kalayaan Ave. from Zapote to N. Garcia, South Ave. from Metropolit­an to J.P. Rizal, Vito Cruz Extension from South Ave. to Zapote and Pililia St. from J.P. Rizal to Kalayaan Avenue have been closed to vehicular traffic.

Affected motorists are advised of the rerouting plans.

From Guadalupe Area to Manila - take J.P. Rizal Ave. toward destinatio­n; From Manila to Guadalupe Area - take J.P. Rizal Ave. toward destinatio­n; From Ayala CBD to Circuit Makati - take Ayala Ave., left turn Yakal St., right turn Pasong Tamo toward destinatio­n; From Zapote to Ayala CBD - take J.P. Rizal Ave., right turn N. Garcia, left turn Gil Puyat Ave. toward destinatio­n; From EDSA/ Jupiter Area to Vito Cruz - left turn N. Garcia, right turn Gil Puyat Ave. toward destinatio­n; From Mandaluyon­g to CBD - take Makati Ave. toward destinatio­n; From Kamagong St. to Jupiter St. – right turn Ayala Ave., loop Ayala Ave. / Gil Puyat Ave., left turn N. Garcia toward destinatio­n.

In addition, J.P. Rizal Avenue from Pasong Tirad to Makati Avenue and Kalayaan Avenue from Pasong Tirad to Zapote, will be opened to two-way traffic.

On the other hand, one way traffic will be in effect along Kalayaan Avenie from N. Garcia to Makati Avenue and Metropolit­an Avenue from South Avenue to N. Garcia.

Motorists are reminded to expect heavy traffic, take alternativ­e routes, and avoid the South Cemetery area.

In Marikina City, the traffic rerouting scheme will start at noon today, October 31 and will end at 12 midnight of November 1.

A.Bonifacio Avenue will be open to one-way traffic from Barangka Flyover to the Shoe Avenue traffic light area.

Motorists headed for Loyola Memorial Park may take Marcos Highway going to Barangka Flyover or Barangka Underloop in order to reach A. Bonifacio Avenue.

Motorists can enter Loyola Memorial Park’s Gate 2 and exit via Gate 1.

Riverbanks Avenue will be open to south-bound traffic going to Marcos Highway. (with a report from Madelynne Dominguez)
