Prepare for rain, says PAGASA

- By ELLALYN DE VERA-RUIZ

Filipinos visiting the graves of their loved ones may experience scattered light to at times heavy rains, particularly over the regions of Caraga, Davao and SOCCSKSARGEN, including Aurora province today, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), a breeding ground for possible tropical cyclones, will bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over Aurora, Compostela Valley, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Occidental, Davao Oriental, North Cotabato, Sarangani, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Dinagat Island, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur.

PAGASA warned of possible lightning and scattered light to moderate with occasional heavy rains over these areas due to thunderstorms.

A new low pressure area (LPA) is being monitored by PAGASA, which it estimated at 625 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur and embedded along the ITCZ.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon or “amihan” prevailing over Northern Luzon will bring cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience cloudy to cloudy skies with possible isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
