3 arrested for guns and ammo

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet — Three persons were arrested after firearms and ammunition were confiscated from them in Abra, the Police Regional Office Cordillera (PRO-Cor) said yesterday. The Abra Police Provincial Office (PPO) arrested Cesar Frio Blanes, 48, butcher in Bangued last Thursday and Manuel Malaggay Labaoan, 40, in Tayum last Wednesday after search warrants were served by police. In a separate operation, Angelo Dacanay Alfiler, alias “Gelo,” 47, was nabbed in his house in Tayum last Monday. The suspects yielded various firearms and ammunition. The PRO-Cor said similar operations will continue in a bid to dismantle private armed groups in the region. (Zaldy C. Comanda)
