4Ps cash cards as collateral prohibited

BUTUAN CITY – Government officials and employees, as well as private individuals or groups, on Friday have been warned against accepting Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) cash cards as loan collateral. The local government unit in the fast-rising town of Nasipit in Agusan del Norte province has also prohibited local businesses from accepting 4Ps cash cards from beneficiaries as payment for goods and services. This prohibition came out on Friday after the Sangguniang Panlalawigan in Agusan del Norte approved Municipal Ordinance No. 009-2017 from the Sangguniang Bayan of Nasipit. The measure declared the act as illegal and prohibits government workers, private individuals/groups and local businesses in the municipality from accepting such cards as collateral and imposing a penalty for any acts of violation.
