ZAMBOANGA CITY – Soldiers of the Joint Task Force Zampelan, Western Mindanao Command discovered an arms cache during a military operation Friday morning against an alleged sympathize­r of the Maute terrorist group in Lanao del Sur. Armed Forces of the Philippine­s, Western Mindanao Command (AFP-WestMinCom) Commander Lt Gen Carlito Galvez Jr., said yesterday troops of the 65th Infantry Battalion and the local police were able to unearth several armaments that were buried in Barangay Torogan in Maguing town in Lanao del Sur, which is 30 kilometers from Marawi City. The discovery was made at about 8:30 a.m. Friday, with authoritie­s saying that the weapons may have come from a certain Alex Yungcao, a drug lord and sympathize­r of the Maute group. Galvez said the cache consisted of two M60 machine guns; three M16 rifles; and two M203 grenade launchers. (Nonoy Lacson)
